The property is located in the lush gardens of the Castello in the little town of Ponte Tresa, overlooking the beautiful Lugano Lake and its surrounding valleys and mountains. Ponte Tresa is a town directly on the Swiss-Italian border. The nearest airport is Lugano (10 minutes drive) or, alternatively Milano-Malpensa (60 minutes and shuttles every 2 hours to Lugano) and Milano-Linate (90 minutes). Lugano has a train station that has connections with Zürich / Basel (2,30 h / 3,30 h on the north) and Milano (1.30 h on the south) every hour. From Lugano there is a local train that brings you to Ponte Tresa every 20 minutes and the apartment is 3 minutes walk away from the station. The main motorway north-south through the Gottard and San Bernardino tunnels runs 10 minutes drive away from Ponte Tresa. Its exit is Lugano Nord.

Lugano is the nearest city with great shopping facilities, cafe's, restaurants and night life. There is a rich variety of local Grottos (typical restaurants) in the nearby mountain villages and along the lake shores. The lake (which one can safely swim in) is only a 5 minutes walk from the property. The Lugano Golf Club is located 5 minutes drive from Ponte Tresa. On the Italian side of Ponte Tresa there is a famous Saturday Market as well as in Luino (a nearby town on the Lago Maggiore) on Wednesday. The property is available throughout the year as it's ideal for winter breads as well as hot summer get aways. The nearest ski slopes are only 45 minutes drive and open throughout the winter months. The weather in Ticino is mediterranean with occasional snow in winter.
